The ultimate tribute to traditional watchmaking celebrated by the collection, the DC1 Titanium is the latest iteration of the inaugural piece launched in 2017 – a revolutionary timepiece rooted in the brand’s vision, paying homage to classic watchmaking tradition while employing modern, cutting-edge technologies.
The DC1 collection introduces several world firsts, including an all-titanium movement. The very choice of natural titanium, guided by the intention of producing a movement that could last for centuries, required new precision manufacturing and hand-decoration processes never before seen in watchmaking.
The DC1 collection features innovations such as the patented Couronne Magique winding system, and a 30-degree inclined tourbillon that further enhances chronometric precision.
The play of polished and satin finishes on the titanium case, coupled with the DC1 Titanium’s hand-grained 18-carat yellow gold dial, give a resolutely contemporary look to this classic model, perfect for those who appreciate both the heritage of craftsmanship and the excellence of modern engineering!
Structure
Games of asymmetry
The DC1’s design plays with asymmetry, both in the case and in the movement, to create a perfectly balanced whole of a totally new kind. The result is already visible on the dial. Raised at 12 o’clock and lowered at 6 o’clock, this unusual positioning enhances the comfort of reading the time by optimizing the wearer’s field of vision.
Large central seconds hand
From a purely graphic point of view, the overall layout of indications and functions follows a cross-shaped logic.
- In the center, the large gold seconds hand, stamped in the old-fashioned way, is coupled directly to the finishing gear. This guarantees direct operation and constant advance without any backlash.
- The large central seconds hand gives a clear reading of the passage of time. Its inwardly curved tip is a reference to the old precision chronometers. This distinctive and unique visual element gives it a character of its own: it evokes the ultra-precise regulators – or master clocks – installed in watchmaking workshops. Their single central seconds hand indicated the reference time needed to set all the watches in the workshop.
“Compass rose” micro-dial
On the right-hand side of the dial, the hour and minute indications are given by inverted “syringe” hands. The microdial is made of titanium and white opal. The inscriptions – Arabic numerals and minute track – are pad-printed. The indexes for the four cardinal points (“the compass rose”) are in white gold.
